Kitty Tseng, “Ms. Kitty”

Lower & Middle School Math Tutor

Kitty is an educator who brings a reflective approach to the classroom and a deep interest in how students learn. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Psychology from the University of Cambridge and a Master’s in Human Development and Education from Harvard University. After teaching in Boston, the United Kingdom, and Taiwan, Kitty is now a Founding Lead Teacher at Hiba Academy Bay Area.

Kitty is drawn to math for the deep thinking it demands, and she wants students to experience that depth for themselves. She loves spending time with a difficult problem, trying different approaches, noticing what changes, and learning along the way. That love has grown with her, from childhood explorations to college-level mathematics, advanced statistical research, coaching robotics, and a continued curiosity to this day.

At Girlmath, Kitty hopes to help students thrive in math both in the classroom and beyond. Her inquiry-based approach gives students an active role in asking questions, exploring strategies, making connections, and following ideas. She aims to give students both the mathematical foundations to succeed academically and the flexible, independent thinking to become lifelong mathematicians.
