Girlmath Teacher Training
How to Teach Math So It Actually Sticks
Foundations for Grades 4 & 5
📅 Dates: June 16–19 & June 23-26
🕐 Time: 12:30–3:30 PM daily
📍 Location: Girlmath (in-person only – on Union Street in San Francisco)
💵 Cost: $2,400
👩🏫 Ideal for: Educators teaching or planning to teach 4th or 5th grade math
This 2-week, in-person training is for educators who want to transform how they teach math in the upper elementary grades. Inspired by the work of Jo Boaler and Pam Harris, we’ll explore how to design and deliver low floor, high ceiling tasks that support deep understanding, build flexible thinking, and create a classroom culture where all students—especially girls—feel confident, capable, and excited to learn math.
Over the course of eight sessions, you’ll:
Learn how to introduce key math concepts through rich, engaging tasks
Explore models and strategies that develop number sense and reasoning
Practice facilitating discussions that help all learners feel seen and stretched
Build your toolkit of routines, tools, and language to support diverse thinkers
Reflect on your own math identity—and how to help students reshape theirs
This isn’t a lecture-style PD. You’ll be doing math, thinking collaboratively, and experiencing what it feels like to be part of a supportive community of learning—just like we hope to build for our students.
