Julia Kniesche

Mahjong Instructor

Julia Kniesche is a San Francisco native who brings warmth, energy, and fun to every Mahjong table. With a background in financial services and a lifelong love of games, she believes strategy games foster connection, sharpen thinking, and create meaningful shared experiences.

Having learned through mentorship herself, Julia is passionate about paying it forward and creating a welcoming, empowering environment for new players. As a proud girl mom and former Hamlin student, she especially enjoys introducing girls to Mahjong—helping them build confidence, strengthen critical thinking skills, and develop community one table at a time.

Her teaching style is relaxed, upbeat, and encouraging, making beginners feel comfortable while helping experienced players deepen their skills. Whether working with small groups or larger classes, Julia emphasizes pattern recognition, probability, memory, and collaborative learning.

At Girlmath, Julia leads Mahjong classes that blend strategy, social connection, and playful competition, helping students strengthen their thinking skills while building confidence and community around the table.
